NOTICE TO ALL TENNESSEE EMPLOYERS Tennessee is eliminating the expense and time delays of paper unemployment checks. Beginning April 4, 2011 payment for unemployment  benefits for all claims, including those from the Auto  and Paper Partials Unit will begin to be made via TAP  Debit Card (Tennessee Automated Payment Debit  Card).  Transitioning of all claimants takes place  automatically during April and each claimant will be  notified when s/he is converted. Employees receiving TAP Debit Cards may also elect  Direct Deposit if they prefer.  Attached is Direct Deposit  and TAP (Debit) Card FAQs. TAP Debit Cards are sent by default.  If an employee  prefers Direct Deposit, the election can be made  anytime at the following web site: https://ui.tn.gov/ and  then clicking on View/Update Payment Type and then  following the step by step prompts.  Paper benefit  checks will no longer be issued. The correct Date of Birth (DOB) is required when an  employee activates the Debit Card.  Claims with an  incorrect DOB will not allow the employee to activate  his/her Debit Card. Auto Partial files and Paper Claims  sent without DOB information will not be processed.
REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION: The Tennessee Department of Labor Workforce  Development (Partials Unit, Claims Centers,  Interviewers, Local Offices, etc.) can not assist  employees with changes of payment type, nor answer  questions regarding the debit cards or direct deposit.   For assistance from the department contact the  following: Questions regarding the TAP Debit Cards:     Contact Chase Customer Service at  www.myaccount.chase.com , toll free number  1-866-429-9835.  Employees may contact the Customer Service number  free of charge four times a month.  There is a $.10  transaction fee for each call thereafter. Questions regarding Direct Deposit: Contact the bank  the employee uses for direct deposit, i.e. their personal  bank. This new program results in employees receiving  unemployment insurance benefits faster, while saving  over 3 million dollars annually in postage costs.
